Product Owner - Retail Technology & POS Solutions
GaP Solutions, part of the global Banyan Software group, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Product Owner to take ownership of our mission-critical retail technology platform serving independent and mid-sized grocery retailers across Australia and New Zealand.
This is not a traditional Product Owner role.
We are looking for an executive-level product leader who can bridge customer needs, commercial objectives and technology strategy while driving the ongoing evolution of a highly specialised retail software ecosystem.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping product direction, influencing investment decisions, engaging directly with major customers and ensuring engineering teams deliver solutions that create measurable business outcomes.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Strategic Product Leadership
Own and drive the product backlog and delivery priorities aligned to business strategy.
Influence product investment decisions and roadmap direction.
Balance customer value, revenue opportunities, technical debt and platform modernisation.
Lead product discovery and business analysis initiatives.
Build trusted relationships with key retailers, industry partners and stakeholders.
Translate operational retail challenges into scalable product solutions.
Drive customer-focused innovation across POS, inventory, replenishment, loyalty and reporting systems.
Act as a senior product representative across customer and commercial engagements.
Technology & Delivery Leadership




Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture and Operations teams.
Define requirements for APIs, integrations, data models and platform enhancements.
Facilitate agile delivery practices including planning, refinement and release reviews.
Ensure quality, scalability, security and operational continuity remain central to product planning.
Executive Stakeholder Management
Present roadmap priorities and business outcomes to senior leadership.
Provide visibility of delivery risks, opportunities and investment priorities.
Drive alignment across Product, Technology, Sales, Support and Operations functions.
About You
You are a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and deep experience delivering software products in complex operational environments.
You'll bring:
7+ years' experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Senior Business Analysis or Software Delivery leadership.
Robust experience within grocery retail, supermarket, POS, ERP or retail technology environments.
Demonstrated success managing complex product roadmaps and stakeholder groups.
Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, data flows and enterprise software delivery.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills.
Experience working with Agile delivery teams and modern software development practices.
The ability to translate business challenges into clear strategic outcomes.
Highly Desirable
Experience within Australian or New Zealand retail technology markets.
Exposure to cloud-based SaaS platforms.
Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitLab or similar delivery platforms.
Product Owner, Scrum, Agile or Business Analysis certifications.
