LOCUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Villawood Immigration Detention Centre (VIDC)

- Location: Villawood, Sydney, NSW
- Dates: ASAP - 3-6 months (ongoing)
- Roster: 1 day per week (0.2 FTE)
- Rate: $3,000 per day
- Weekly Earnings: $3,000
- Working Hours: Flexible, subject to agreement
- Department: Primary Health Services - Psychiatry
- Additional Information: Working alongside an existing Psychiatrist covering 0.4 FTE

2. Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre (MIDC)

- Location: Broadmeadows, Melbourne, VIC
- Dates: ASAP - 3-6 months (ongoing)
- Roster: 2 days per week (0.4 FTE)
- Rate: $3,000 per day
- Weekly Earnings: $6,000
- Working Hours: To be confirmed with the clinical team
- Department: Primary Health Services - Psychiatry
- Additional Information: On-site position, working alongside an existing Psychiatrist covering 0.2 FTE

POSITION OVERVIEW

Healthcare Australia Primary Health Services provides healthcare, mental health and wellbeing services across Australia's onshore Immigration Detention network.
The successful Psychiatrist will provide specialist psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing clinical management to individuals within immigration detention facilities.
The service operates through multidisciplinary healthcare teams, supported by HCA's 24/7 Virtual Care Centre.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct psychiatric assessments and mental health risk assessments.
- Diagnose and manage complex psychiatric conditions.
- Provide treatment plans and medication management.




- Deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed psychiatric care.
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Provide clinical advice and guidance to healthcare staff.
- Complete clinical documentation and medico-legal assessments where required.
- Support clinical governance and quality improvement.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Current AHPRA Specialist Registration in Psychiatry.
- Minimum 3 years' experience practising as a Psychiatrist.
- FRANZCP desirable.
- Experience in forensic, custodial or immigration health highly desirable, but not essential.
- Experience managing complex psychiatric presentations.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse and trauma-affected populations.
- Australian working rights.
- Ability to satisfy HCA compliance and security clearance requirements.

CONTRACT & PAYMENT DETAILS
Casual Employment

- Rate: $3,000 per day (advertised rate).
- Payment: Paid fortnightly through HCA payroll.
- Notice Period: 1 week.
- Contract Duration: No specified contract end date.

Subcontractor Arrangement

- Rate: $3,000 per day.
- Eligibility: Available to sole traders or Pty Ltd contractors.
- Payment: Via invoice.
- Insurance Requirements: Skilled Indemnity, Public Liability and Workers Compensation insurance required.

COMPLIANCE
Compliance is managed by HCA HR following offer acceptance.
Requirements include:

- AHPRA registration.
- Proof of identity.
- Right to work in Australia.
- AFP check for immigration detention employment.
- Working with Children Check.
- Relevant vaccination evidence.
- CPR, BLS and ALS Level 1.
- Medical qualifications and CPD evidence.

HCA can arrange and cover the cost of the required AFP check, CPR and BLS training.
