About the role

At Nurse Next Door Kiama, our heart and soul is Making Lives Better® . We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker for an immediate start to join our local team.

In this role, you will have a stable, core roster supporting one of our highly valued clients in Warrawong as part of a dedicated, 3-person primary care team. Our client lives with advanced Parkinson’s, dementia, and dysphagia, and requires a 2:1 assist.

We have two fantastic roster opportunities available to suit your lifestyle:

1. The Full Day Split-Shift Roster: Supporting our client's key daily routines on a consistent split-shift schedule of 7.5 hours per day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Afternoon visits) on Mondays, Fridays, or Sundays.

2. Dedicated Afternoon Shifts: Supporting our client's evening routine during our highly consistent afternoon shifts (4:30 PM to 8:00 PM) available Monday to Sunday.

Because we are growing, you will also have plenty of fantastic opportunities to support our other wonderful local participants in the Wollongong and Shellharbour areas to build up your weekly hours and bring our philosophy of Happier Ageing® to life!

Key responsibilities

- Safe Manual Handling: Proficiently and safely operate a ceiling hoist for all transfers, working confidently in a collaborative 2:1 assist environment in the client's home.

- Mealtime Support: Deliver safe, patient feeding and hydration support in strict accordance with Speech Pathologist guidelines (dysphagia management and texture-modified meals).

- Compassionate Care: Provide warm, positive, and proactive support daily,

tailored to the unique realities of advanced Parkinson's disease and dementia.

- Relationship & Communication: Build a strong, trusting, and professional partnership with the client, their highly supportive family, and our other local participants.

- Dignified Care: Assist with sensitive personal care, grooming, and maintaining a calm, safe, and happy home environment

About you

We fundamentally hire for heart, but for this complex clinical role, proven competence and confidence are essential:

- Local Proximity: You must live locally (ideally within 10 minutes of Warrawong) to make the split-shift commute easy and sustainable

- Clinical Experience: Verifiable, hands-on experience utilizing ceiling hoists and executing safe manual handling.

- Specialised Skills: Demonstrated understanding of dysphagia care (safe feeding, modified diets, thickened fluids) and experience supporting clients with dementia and Parkinson's disease.

- Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, a confident and professional demeanor, and a calm, reassuring approach.

- Qualifications: Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, or equivalent.

- Compliance: Current First Aid and CPR certifications,

an active NDIS Workers Screening Check, a valid driver's licence, and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.

Benefits

- Immediate Start & Paid Buddy Shifts: We set you up for absolute success from day one with fully paid buddy shifts alongside an experienced team member

- Roster Consistency: Stable, predictable weekly hours with your core Warrawong roster, plus extra shifts with other local participants.

- Work Close to Home: Keep your travel to a minimum! Easily pop home and relax in your own space between your breakfast, lunch, and dinner visits.

- Excellent Earning Potential: High casual hourly rates under the SCHADS Award, including lucrative Sunday rates, split-shift allowances, and travel loadings.

- The "Micro-Team" Advantage: You aren’t doing this alone. You will be part of a supportive 3-person team, making it easy to swap shifts or coordinate planned leave.

- 24/7 Clinical Support: Ongoing practical training and direct, round-the-clock guidance from our clinical care managers so you always feel backed up in the field.
