Your Next Employer

TA Field Estates is one of Australia's most respected family-owned wool producers, a business built over more than a century. The family runs five stations across NSW, recognised nationally for their Merino genetics.

Banongill South expands the portfolio into Victoria, with 4,600ha near Skipton in the Western District. There will be between 12,000 and 15,000 superfine Merino breeding ewes, including a stud of about 650 ewes, along with the rams. The grazing country is expected to run 30,000 to 40,000 DSE of sheep and cattle in the short to medium term.

The property is well equipped, with a brand-new six-stand woolshed, two new sets of undercover sheep yards, full water reticulation and a modern farm office.

The Role

You'll play a key role in running Banongill South, working with the owner to lead the day-to-day Merino and cattle operation. You'll have real responsibility and the scope to shape the program and the team from day one.

January 2027 is the preferred start, around the arrival of the stock. You'll lead a permanent team of up to five. There's no breeding herd, with agistment cattle anticipated. It's an ideal role for a manager looking to make their mark on the property.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the flock. Bring the commercial ewes and the stud flock through their first seasons on Banongill, with ram selection made at group level.
- Run the sheep program. Plan shearing and weaning each year.
- Manage animal health. Run worm control across the flock, with young sheep the priority on country that carries black scour worm and brown stomach worm.
- Build and develop the team. Recruit the team, set the standard and train the jackaroos and jillaroos.
- Plan, budget and report. Set the production program with the owner, refine it as you learn the property, prepare the annual budget and report against it.
- Keep records and WHS current.

Maintain livestock records in AgriWebb and WHS in Secure Ag Systems.

What You Bring

This role suits an established Station Manager with a superfine Merino background, or a 2IC or Assistant Station Manager who has led people and is ready for the step up. You plan ahead, take pride in the stock and set a high standard for the team.

Essential:

- Senior experience on a large-scale superfine wool operation.
- A thorough understanding of superfine wool production.
- A working understanding of ASBVs and how to use them.
- Your own team of working dogs.
- Accurate records and clear reporting against a budget.
- A current driver's licence.
- Australian work rights.

Advantageous:

- Stud experience.
- Cattle experience.
- AgriWebb experience.
- Firearms licence.

What You'll Gain
- Package: Highly competitive base + 13% Super, plus a work vehicle.
- Housing: Four-bedroom family home on the property with power and internet covered. Other accommodation is being planned.
- Support: From the owner, the head office staff and an independent sheep production consultant.
- Location: Skipton (primary school, GP clinic, 24-hour urgent care) and Derrinallum (P-12) are each 20 minutes away. Ballarat is an hour and Melbourne 2.5 hours.
