- Developing and negotiating enterprise agreements.

- Assisting with matters before the Fair Work Commission.

- Supporting members involved in court, tribunal and professional regulatory proceedings, including AHPRA/NMBA matters.

- Assisting members with workers compensation and work health and safety issues.

- Building relationships through workplace visits, supporting delegates, and contributing to membership recruitment and retention.

- Contributing to member education, campaigns and the branch’s broader industrial priorities.

Selection Criteria:

Essential qualifications and experience:

- A completed law degree, such as a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor.

- Demonstrated experience in industrial relations or employment law, gained within a union or an equivalent advocacy or employment relations setting.

- A demonstrated commitment to trade union principles and protecting workers’ rights.

- Strong negotiation, conciliation, problem-solving and communication skills.

- The ability to build relationships, support workplace delegates and contribute to membership growth.

- An awareness of contemporary nursing, midwifery and broader health workforce issues.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate member records and case information.

Highly desirable: Admission as an Australian legal practitioner, with relevant experience in employment law, industrial advocacy or dispute resolution.

You must also hold a current driver’s licence, obtain an Ochre Card, provide a satisfactory criminal history check on commencement, and be able to obtain the required Fair Work Commission and NT WorkSafe entry permits during probation.

What we offer

- Meaningful work advocating for nurses and midwives across the Northern Territory.
