About the role

FSG is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with at least 2 years of experience in geotechnical consulting or contracting to join our Brisbane team. The role will initially include a significant fieldwork component that will provide the opportunity for both local work and travel.

Over time we expect our junior staff to develop from a predominantly field based role to an office-based role incorporating analysis, design and reporting for a variety of geotechnical engineering projects for building, infrastructure and energy/resources applications.

Key responsibilities

- Planning, coordinating and conducting geotechnical investigations including fieldwork and scheduling laboratory testing





- Conducting field testing techniques and obtaining rock and soil samples for laboratory testing

- Undertaking of construction phase site assessment and investigation services

- Interpretation of geotechnical data gathered during the site investigations, performing analysis and developing recommendations to prepare geotechnical factual reports

- Assisting senior staff with geotechnical analyses for foundations, slope stability, pavement designs, earthworks and other geo-structures

- Managing activities and tasks in accordance with relevant technical guidelines, codes, and standards

- Assisting in managing timelines, budgets, and resources on projects

- Communicate and report opportunities, risks, hazards, incidents, technical deviations, and achievements proactively

About you

- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or related field

- At least 2 years of experience in geotechnical consulting or contracting

- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities

- A full driver's license is required
