Virbac Australia has an outstanding executive leadership opportunity for a commercially astute Finance Director to join our team for a January start.
Reports to the Area Director for the Pacific Region with close alignment/dotted line to the global Finance team. In this key leadership role, you will hold financial responsibility for the Pacific region, leading a dedicated team across Australia while providing strategic and operational oversight for New Zealand (NZ). As an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide high-level financial counsel, drive commercial innovation, and evaluate risks and rewards to ensure sustainable long-term business performance.
Location & Regional Connection: Primarily based at our Milperra site, this role oversees the wider Pacific remit,
involving occasional travel to New Zealand to collaborate with on-the-ground teams.
Beyond standard control and compliance, you will champion the Virbac culture, serve as a valued commercial advisor across Commercial, Industrial Operations (IO), and Support functions, steer regional IT strategy, and oversee regional procurement.
The key areas of accountability for this role are:
- Directing financial planning, budgeting, and rolling forecasts, ensuring financial models are realistic, robust, and aligned with Pacific and global priorities.
- Developing and leading a high-performing finance function that delivers service excellence, operating as both an advisor and gatekeeper across Commercial, IO, and Support functions.
- Partnering closely with the Area Director, local executive leaders, and the global Finance team to deliver high-impact financial insights and executive decision support.
- Overseeing the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and global executive committee (GEC) reporting packages.
- Ensuring rigorous compliance with local tax, statutory accounting, and legal regulations across the Pacific, while supporting HR with executive remuneration reviews.
- Leading regional IT system strategy and deployment to optimize business processes, alongside regional procurement oversight.
- Introducing new performance measurement frameworks and cultivating commercial financial acumen among non-financial leaders across the business.
- Managing capital requirements, debt, and taxation, while evaluating regional business expansion and M&A; opportunities.
- Championing best practices in financial operations, internal controls, systems, and modern ways of working.
You’re someone who:
- Brings 5+ years of experience as a Finance Director or CFO, with a solid track record in a major multinational or international organization with strict reporting standards.
- Holds a relevant University degree and is fully CPA or CA qualified.
- Has prior internal audit experience gained within a large corporate structure or a world-renowned audit firm.
- Demonstrates proven commercial acumen and a tangible track record of improving margins and business performance.
- Brings deep expertise in corporate finance, including capital management, debt structures, taxation, and M&A; assessment.
- Possesses strong strategic foresight, with the ability to translate strategic vision into actionable operational execution.
- Is an authentic, empowering leader capable of fostering cross-border collaboration across regional and global functions.
- Shows up with heart, humility, and positive energy—ready to take ownership, challenge processes, and drive regional growth.
- Is available to commence in January 2027.
Not sure you tick every box? That’s okay. Research shows that people from underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. At Virbac, we care more about your values, your mindset, and your passion than a perfect checklist.
If this chance feels like a good fit and you’re excited about what we do—we’d love to hear from you.
