This role is ideal for a hands-on clinical leader to take ownership of the clinical, operational and strategic management of a small day hospital.

About the role

As Director of Nursing, you will lead the overall clinical and operational management of the day hospital, ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while supporting the team and driving the ongoing success of the service. This is a hands-on clinical leadership role at a well-established, small day hospital in Sydney operating a single theatre with a dedicated recovery unit.

Key responsibilities

- Providing hands-on clinical, operational and professional leadership.

- Overseeing the daily operations of the operating theatre and recovery unit.

- Managing workforce planning, staff rostering, performance and development.





- Maintaining clinical governance, accreditation, quality, risk management and regulatory compliance.

- Building strong working relationships with surgeons, specialists, staff and other key stakeholders.

- Supporting the clinical team with a hands-on approach when required and fostering a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

- Promoting a positive workplace culture built on accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

About you

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

- A strong background in perioperative or theatre nursing.

- Previous experience as a Director of Nursing desirable.

- Demonstrated clinical and operational leadership capabilities.

- A sound understanding of clinical governance, accreditation, quality assurance, risk management and compliance.

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

- A practical, hands-on approach to leadership, with the flexibility to support the team in the clinical environment when needed.
