Under new ownership since April 2026, we’re building on that heritage with a fresh focus on growth, customer experience and community connection. Join us and help shape our next chapter.

About the role

Lead a great team. Create a welcoming store. Drive results.

As Store Manager at Robinsons Frankston, you’ll combine your passion for books with solid leadership and commercial focus. You’ll lead from the shop floor, develop knowledgeable, confident booksellers and take responsibility for sales performance, customer service and efficient daily operations.

You’ll shape the store’s growth by using KPIs, customer feedback and team insights to identify opportunities, plan improvements and turn ideas into measurable results.

What you’ll deliver

- Team leadership and development. Lead, train and support a knowledgeable, motivated team through clear expectations, regular feedback and practical coaching.

- Excellent customer experiences. Build lasting customer relationships, offer thoughtful book recommendations and resolve enquiries and concerns professionally.

- Sales growth and performance. Manage sales targets and KPIs, monitor results and implement initiatives that improve store performance.

- Operational efficiency. Review processes, coordinate daily priorities and identify opportunities to improve how the store operates.

- Effective rostering. Balance customer service, team coverage and wage budgets.

- Stock management. Oversee receiving, replenishment, transfers, stocktakes and customer orders.

- Engaging store presentation. Create displays that inspire discovery, supported by clear signage and consistently high presentation standards.

- Community engagement and marketing.

Support author events, book clubs, promotional campaigns and social media initiatives that connect readers with our store.

- Accurate administration. Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling and store records.

- A safe, well-organised workplace. Apply company policies consistently and maintain clear communication with head office.

What you’ll bring

- A passion for books and reading. You enjoy discovering new titles, sharing recommendations and helping others find their next great read.

- Bookshop or retail experience preferred, ideally in a management or supervisory role.

- Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to build rapport, communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with customers and colleagues is essential.

- Experience managing KPIs and sales targets, with the ability to translate performance insights into practical action.

- Strategic, forward-thinking leadership. You anticipate challenges, identify growth opportunities and plan effectively.

- A growth mindset. You welcome feedback, embrace new ideas and actively support your own development and that of your team.

- A robust focus on operational efficiency, supported by practical knowledge of stock management, rostering and wage budgets.

- Enthusiasm for marketing and social media. You actively support campaigns, contribute ideas and encourage your team to showcase our books, events and store.

- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

- Confidence using retail POS and inventory systems.

- Initiative and accountability. You lead by example, take a practical approach and follow through on commitments.

- Availability across store trading hours, including weekends.
