RN - Mackay Base Hospital - Day Surgery Unit

Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Day Surgery Unit on a two-week contract starting 26 October 2026. Based in Mackay, Queensland, this Grade 5 nursing role offers the opportunity to work across extended day surgery in a dynamic healthcare setting. The position runs through 8 November 2026 with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight, working rotating shifts across 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour patterns, including early, late and night shifts across the 24/7 roster.

- Maximum 80 hours per fortnight across flexible 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts
- Potential to pool to other wards as needed, offering variety and broader clinical exposure

Preferred Requirements

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia




- Ability to work flexibly across rotating early, late and night shifts
- Strong clinical communication and teamwork skills in a perioperative workplace
- Competence with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
- Willingness to adapt to different ward areas as required by operational needs

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification with current AHPRA registration
- Experience with Queensland Health systems, particularly the ieMR platform
- Previous experience working in Australian healthcare settings, ideally within Queensland Health or Mackay Health and Hospital Service
