The Team n

This role sits within the Professional Liability team, led by Partners Michael Bath and Julie Bowker, working across three sub-areas: professional indemnity, D&O; and management liability. The team handles claims made against professionals across all industries, acting for some of Australia’s largest corporations and international insurers on complex, high-value matters.

The Opportunity n

We are looking for an experienced Associate to join this team. You will be mentored by senior specialists as you build strong client relationships and develop your expertise across a varied and intellectually engaging caseload spanning the full spectrum of professional liability.

What you’ll be doing n

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Managing a varied caseload of professional liability matters end to end, with Partner oversight
n
- Drafting correspondence, pleadings, formal opinions and legal documents
n
- Advising clients directly and contributing to matter strategy
n
- Participating in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings
n
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
n
- Supporting business development — staying across industry issues and building your network
n
- Mentoring and supervising law graduates and junior solicitors in the team
n
- Contributing to firm publications, internal training sessions and knowledge sharing
n

Essential Experience and Criteria n

n
- 3+ years post-admission experience in professional liability, insurance litigation or commercial litigation
n
- LLB or equivalent and a current (or eligible)



NSW Practising Certificate
n
- Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines
n
- Experience drafting legal documents, pleadings and formal opinions
n
- Exposure to negotiations, mediations or court proceedings
n
- Experience working directly with clients and managing client relationships
n
