RN - Dysart Hospital - Acute / Emergency

Dysart Hospital in rural Queensland is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Acute and Emergency team on a two-week contract from 12 to 25 October 2026. This is a hands‑on role in a remote setting where you'll work rotating 8 and 12‑hour shifts, with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight. You'll be expected to lead the ward and manage clinical decisions, often as the sole RN on shift, making this an ideal opportunity for a nurse with robust emergency and rural experience who thrives in a dynamic, independent environment.

- Lead the acute and emergency ward independently, managing triage, resuscitation, and clinical prioritisation
- Rotating 8 and 12‑hour shifts with a maximum 80 hours per fortnight in a remote rural hospital

Preferred Requirements





- Proven experience in emergency nursing, including triage and resuscitation protocols
- Demonstrated rural nursing experience and comfort working in remote settings
- Ability to lead and manage the ward independently, with sound clinical judgment under pressure
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent resuscitation certification
- Own vehicle highly recommended due to the remoteness of the location

Preferred Qualifications

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
- Familiarity with Queensland Health systems, including ieMR, FirstNet, PowerChart, or HBCIS
- Previous experience with Queensland Health or Mackay Hospital and Health Service
