About the Role:

Our Client is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Control Systems Network (CSN) Specialist to support the Cross River Rail European Train Control System (ETCS) program. This full‑time role sits within an established Telecommunications Engineering team and provides specialist technical leadership across CSN, IP/MPLS, Cisco technologies, and rail‑based control system networking.

You will play a critical role in design assurance, configuration review, testing and commissioning, and knowledge transfer activities that underpin the secure and reliable delivery of ETCS Level 2.

The Telecommunications Control Systems Network (CSN) SME to work within an established Telecommunications Engineering team and provide specialist CSN, IP/MPLS and related telecommunications engineering support for the ETCS scope.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialist CSN and IP/MPLS technical advice to authorised QR personnel.




- Support ETCS design development, including review of RFIs, design packages, installation documentation, and commissioning deliverables.
- Participate in design review workshops, Safety in Design (SiD) sessions, and witness testing (lab, field, and site‑based).
- Review and provide written advice on Cisco configuration files for CSN hardware and firewalls.
- Undertake testing, configuration, and design activities on behalf of the ETCS project.
- Review and contribute to SEMS documentation and training/maintenance materials.
- Supervise onsite construction, configuration, and set‑to‑work activities as required.
- Produce structured verification record sheets (VRS) and tracked‑change documentation for all reviews.
- Develop and deliver a Knowledge Transfer Plan to uplift QR staff capability.
- provide comments or written advice on Cisco configuration files for implementation into CSN hardware including firewalls

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Cisco CCNA or higher certification, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated IP/MPLS networking expertise, ideally with Cisco platforms.
- Telecommunications Design Engineer Level 1 (MD‑15‑191) or equivalent competency.
- Practical experience reviewing and implementing MPLS configuration files for CSN hardware and firewalls.
- Minimum 5+ years rail industry experience (highly regarded).
- Experience with ETCS Level 2, industrial IP control systems, construction, and fibre cabling (highly regarded).
