Position Overview n

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our D-Cubed Components team based at our Cambridge (UK) office for a 12 months internship. D-Cubed Components software lies at the heart of the algorithms that enable modern engineering design practices on mobile, desktop and cloud platforms, and is used by a wide range of major CAD software vendors.

As part of the development team, you will be working directly on cutting-edge algorithms that advance the state of the art of CAD software.

What You Will Be Doing n

n
- Work with customers to understand and interpret their requirements.
n
- Research, design and implement reliable, efficient algorithms, with a focus on surpassing customers’ expectations by achieving high quality and on-time delivery.
n
- Undertake all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including project management, requirements definition, functional specification, test planning, algorithm/software design and coding
n
- Create and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows
n

What You Should Bring nn
- Enrolled on a course that includes a year-long industrial placement.
n




- Sound knowledge of vector algebra and the ability to apply it to three-dimensional problems.
n
- Programming experience in C, C++ or another high-level programming language.
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to numerical accuracy and detail.
n
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
n
- Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn unfamiliar mathematical and software concepts.
n

- Experience with AI tools for coding – for example, Copilot or Claude Code
n
