An exciting opportunity currently exists for you to join the Allied Health Services as a Senior Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist (Hand Therapy). This role supports the clinical skill development of lesser experienced clinicians and peers working in the hand therapy team and those working in surrounding regional and rural health facilities of Far North Queensland.

The Health Service is the primary provider of health services to residents of the Cairns, Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions with a population of over 250,000 people, as well as providing specialist services to the Torres Strait and Cape York region. Cairns Hospital is the primary referral hospital for Far North Queensland.

About your role:

- Utilise high level professional and clinical knowledge, expertise and decision making to deliver high level Hand Therapy clinical services including assessment, intervention and evaluation within a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with current evidence and prescribed professional and ethical standards.




- Act as an OT or PT advocate in the clinical area of hand therapy by liaising with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required.
- Contribute to the identification, development and implementation of clinical practices, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care engaging cross-discipline referencing as required and by representing the department where relevant.
