Secondary Teacher in the Mid-West, WA 2027

Are you motivated and enthusiastic about shaping the future of students and creating a positive impact in the school community? Would you thrive in a setting where the outback meets community spirit? As the generalist secondary teacher, your genuine commitment to inspiring young learners will make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in the community.

Located in the heart of the Mid West, the school is based in a small town and has over 100 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with the majority of students identifying as Aboriginal. The school has strong connections with local Aboriginal families and culture, with students having the chance to learn the local language from expert teachers.

Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers play a vital role in supporting the learning community, providing cultural guidance, and maintaining strong connections between the school and the local community. The school places significant emphasis on literacy and numeracy, student well‑being, attendance, and early intervention. The school is part of the MultiLit - Closing the Gap program to support strong literacy foundations for early years children, and for mathematics incorporates Origo Maths. The school has high expectations to become lifelong learners, showing respect for culture themselves and others and striving for a strong future.

As a generalist secondary teacher, you will work across the curriculum bringing enthusiasm and a student‑centred approach to fostering engagement and achievement. Your ability to provide differentiated and individualised instruction will ensure that students with special education needs receive targeted support.

You will actively collaborate with Aboriginal families to promote pride in self and culture, demonstrating a genuine commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of children in the community. As a team player, you will embrace both hands‑on learning and explicit instruction, incorporating key school programs such as InitiaLit, Origo Mathematics, and Positive Behaviour Supports to enhance student outcomes.

The town offers an array of activities and amenities: local clubs, volunteer opportunities, after‑work events, and recreational resources. The town is equipped with a hospital, GP clinic, mental health services, pharmacy, and various visiting services, including dental, physio, and optometry. Engaging with local events and groups is a great way to make new connections and settle into your new outback home. Enjoy nature trails, gorges, and local camping and prospecting opportunities.
