We’re looking for a hands-on Accounts Manager to run the accounting operations of two sister companies: Matter IO, an award winning, smart cities and environmental technology company, and yStop, a digital and illuminated street furniture advertising business working with councils across WA. Both are Perth-based in the same Osborne Park complex.

You’ll own the day-to-day accounts for both businesses, and you’ll be encouraged to modernise how that work gets done. We’re AI-forward and want someone who sees automation as part of the job, not a threat to it.

For the right person, the role will evolve into a management executive position. The role will be 2-3 days a week - up to 25 hours with real flexibility - but could evolve into a full time position over time.

We currently have particularly rapid growth with Matter - our scale-up.

Your core responsibilities

- Payroll: Process and manage payroll accurately and on time, including super, leave and compliance.
- Reporting: Produce timely, accurate management reports and month-end results for both entities, and give directors clear insight into the numbers.
- Payments: Manage supplier payment runs and cash flow, making sure everything is approved, accurate and paid on time.
- Reconciliation: Keep bank, supplier and ledger accounts fully reconciled, including reconciling supplier statements so nothing is missed before payment.

Also part of the role

- Raising sales invoices in Xero
- Setting up and managing direct debit schedules in PayWay
- Processing deposits in Xero from bank statements




- Entering purchase invoices and bills in Xero
- Credit control, including chasing overdue accounts and following up failed direct debits
- Responding to client payment queries
- Issuing monthly customer statements (we’ll train you on the process)
- Looking for ways to automate and streamline all of the above using AI and up-to-date tools

About you

- Proven experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or accounts management role, ideally across more than one entity
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Solid payroll experience and an understanding of Australian payroll obligations
- Confident with reconciliations and month-end reporting
- Comfortable using AI tools and keen to help us automate repetitive finance tasks
- Excellent attention to detail, with a clear and professional communication style
- Self-motivated and able to prioritise across two businesses
- Ambitious, and interested in growing into a leadership role

Advantageous

- Familiarity with the R&D; Tax Incentive
- Experience with PayWay or direct debit platforms
- Experience with Dext or similar receipt and bill capture tools
- Experience with AI tools particularly Claude
- Exposure to grant-funded or technology-based businesses
