Our client is seeking an experienced CA Datacom/DB Database Administrator (DBA) to support a complex enterprise mainframe environment.

n

This is a highly specialised opportunity suited to a CA Datacom/DB subject matter expert who can provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and contingency support across a business-critical legacy workplace.

n

The requirement is primarily focused on risk mitigation and specialist capability, providing additional Datacom expertise that can be called upon when required.

n

The engagement is expected to run from November 2026 through to July 2027, with the opportunity to work remotely from Australia or Current Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Provide specialist CA Datacom/DB database administration and support
n
- Support and maintain Datacom databases operating on IBM z/OS mainframes
n
- Provide expertise across Datacom architecture, internals and database structures
n
- Assist with mainframe database migration activities
n
- Troubleshoot complex database, application and performance issues
n
- Provide performance analysis, tuning and optimisation
n




- Support interactions between PL/I applications and Datacom/DB
n
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations when critical issues arise
n
- Assist with the ongoing stability and resilience of a large-scale legacy environment
n
- Step in quickly when specialist Datacom expertise is required
n

- CA Datacom/DB administration – essential
n
- CA Datacom/DB architecture and internals
n
- IBM z/OS mainframe environments

- Mainframe database migrations

- Datacom database troubleshooting and performance tuning

- PL/I and its interaction with Datacom/DB
n
- Supporting complex, business-critical legacy environments

- Large enterprise or banking/financial services environments

About You

n

You will be a highly experienced mainframe database specialist who is comfortable operating as a trusted technical expert and contingency resource, rather than solely in a traditional day-to-day DBA capacity.

n

You will be able to quickly understand complex legacy environments, troubleshoot critical issues and provide explicit technical guidance when required.
