A Melbourne-based hip-hop artist with an established international audience is looking for an experienced Brand & Marketing Contractor for a major project planned for release in May/June 2027.
Working alongside the artist’s management and wider team, you’ll develop the brand and marketing strategy for the project and see it through from planning to release.
We’re looking for someone who is both strategic and hands‑on. You’ll set a clear direction for the campaign, then keep it moving: coordinating the right people and making sure key deliverables are completed.
The role focuses on brand, marketing, audience growth, partnerships and campaign delivery. It is a specialist engagement working alongside an established management structure.
Key Responsibilities
Brand & Marketing Strategy
- Develop the brand and marketing strategy for the upcoming project
- Define the positioning, messaging and story around the project
- Identify opportunities to grow the artist’s brand in Australia and internationally
- Keep across relevant cultural, audience and marketing trends
- Keep campaign activity consistent with the artist’s broader brand and direction
Campaign Planning & Delivery
- Develop the campaign plan and rollout leading into release
- Build out key campaign dates, priorities and marketing activity
- Coordinate with management, social, PR, creative and external partners
- Track what needs to be completed and follow up where required
- Identify gaps or opportunities and recommend changes
- Review campaign performance and adjust the approach where needed
Marketing Materials
Make sure the materials needed for the project are planned, created and completed on time, which may include:
- LPKs / EPKs
- One-sheets
- Artist and project bios
- Campaign and partnership decks
- Press and promotional materials
- DSP and platform materials
- Other release and marketing collateral
Brand Partnerships
- Identify brands and partners that fit the artist and project
- Develop partnership and collaboration opportunities, pitches and proposals
- Reach out to, or facilitate introductions with, relevant brands
- Follow up and progress opportunities
- Work with management and relevant team members to bring suitable partnerships into the campaign
Management retains final approval over partnerships and commercial agreements.
Audience Development
- Identify opportunities to grow the artist’s audience
- Develop strategies to strengthen fan engagement
- Identify relevant creators, influencers and communities
- Reach new audiences through partnerships, collaborations and other channels
- Use audience and campaign data to understand what’s working and where to improve
Working With the Team
You’ll work closely with the artist, management, publicists, the social team, label and distribution partners, creatives and others involved in the project. Your job is to make sure the brand and marketing strategy is explicit and that the marketing side of the campaign is delivered. You should be comfortable coordinating different people, following up on outstanding work and raising issues early.
Key Deliverables
The final scope will be agreed with the successful candidate,
but is expected to include:
- Brand Audit: review the artist’s current brand, positioning, audience and market presence
- Brand Positioning: define who the artist is, who the brand is for and what sets it apart
- Brand Guidelines: a practical framework for positioning, messaging, tone and direction
- Release Strategy: the overarching marketing strategy for the album and singles
- Rollout Plan: develop and maintain a dated rollout plan covering each single, the album release and key campaign activity
- Brand Partnerships: a target list, active outreach and visibility over pitches and outcomes
- Campaign Materials: LPKs/EPKs, one-sheets, decks and other collateral delivered when required
- Additional Brand Projects: other brand work that comes up, with scope agreed as needed
About You
- Experience in brand, marketing or campaign strategy
- A strong understanding of music, entertainment, culture and digital audiences
- A track record of delivering campaigns, not just writing strategy
- Experience with brand partnerships or collaborations
- Strong organisation, communication and attention to detail
- Good commercial awareness
- Confidence working with internal and external stakeholders
- A proactive style, strong follow-through and the ability to work independently
The Engagement
This is a project-based consulting engagement for a major release expected in May/June 2027. Expected start: November 2026. You’ll start well ahead of release to develop the strategy, then support the campaign through to completion. You’ll need to attend key meetings and planning sessions in Brunswick East. Consulting fees will be agreed based on experience and final scope.
