About the role

We're looking for an experienced confectionery technologist to take ownership of how our existing FUNDAY range performs, and to help it grow into new markets.

This is a hands-on technical role for an experience food technologist. You'll improve and troubleshoot our current products, adapt them for export markets, and step in to support or lead NPD projects when the team needs extra capacity. You'll work closely with our contract manufacturers and ingredient suppliers, and report to the Head of Product & Projects.

What you'll do

- Lead technical improvements to existing products, covering formulation, texture, flavour, shelf life and appearance
- Run bench, pilot and factory trials, and work with manufacturers to find practical fixes for product and process issues
- Evaluate new ingredients and suppliers, and manage ingredient and process changes
- Adapt our existing range for new export markets, working through local regulations, labelling and consumer requirements
- Support and lead NPD projects or workstreams alongside the Product Development Manager, as priorities require
- Keep specifications, recipes and compliance documentation accurate and current

What you'll bring

- Hands-on confectionery product development or technical experience, specifically gummies,



in a manufacturer or a closely related supplier such as gelatine or other confectionery ingredients
- A practical understanding of how formulation, processing and ingredients affect texture, stability and shelf life
- Experience running trials and diagnosing technical problems in a factory or pilot environment
- Strong written and verbal communication, including with external manufacturers and suppliers
- Working knowledge of food safety and Australian labelling requirements
- The adaptability to move between optimisation, export and NPD work as business priorities change
- A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or a related field is preferred, though strong industry experience will be considered
- Experience with contract manufacturers, export market regulations or packaging would highly advantageous. We welcome applications from people at different career stages, including those from ingredient supplier backgrounds with hands-on product experience.

- Delivered optimisation and renovation projects on time, with the quality and cost outcomes we agreed
- Reduced the product and process issues that keep coming back at our manufacturers
- Built solid working relationships with our manufacturers, suppliers and internal teams, so they trust your technical judgement
- Kept our specifications, recipes and change records accurate and up to date
- Become familiar with the regulatory requirements for ingredients and formulations in all our existing markets, and started researching opportunities in new ones
- Been a dependable technical contributor to NPD projects when the team needed you
