Spinifex Recruiting is currently seeking a motivated and reliable Waste Management Officer to join the team at Ballina Shire Council's Resource Recovery Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, providing customer service, and contributing to the efficient operation of waste and recycling services within the local community.

About the Role n

As a Waste Management Officer, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Resource Recovery Centre and Transfer Station, ensuring customers receive a high level of service while maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities n

n
- Provide excellent customer service to members of the public.
n
- Direct customers to appropriate waste disposal and recycling areas.
n
- Assist with the safe operation of the Transfer Station and Resource Recovery Centre.
n
- Operate plant and equipment in accordance with Council procedures.
n
- Undertake general labouring and site maintenance duties.
n
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the site.
n
- Assist with waste sorting and resource recovery activities.
n
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
n




- Complete operational records and documentation as required.
n
- Work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver efficient site operations.
n

About You n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

n

n
- Current HR (Heavy Rigid) Driver Licence (essential).
n
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
n
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor environment.
n
- Reliable work ethic and positive attitude.
n
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
n
- Previous experience in waste management, civil construction, labouring, transport, or a similar field is highly regarded.
n

Desirable Qualifications & Experience n

n
- Current Forklift Ticket.
n
- Experience operating plant and machinery.
n
- White Card.
n
- Experience working in a waste management, resource recovery, construction, or local government environment.
n
- Weighbridge experience.
n
