About Sharps Australia
Sharps Australia is a Profit for Purpose business working to make vehicles, workplaces and communities safer. Working with the auto insurance industry, our inspectors find and remove hidden hazards from vehicles before anyone else has to handle them. Behind every inspection is our office team. From bookings and finance to people, quality and technology, they keep the business running smoothly and make sure our inspectors have what they need to do their work safely and well. We offer a supportive, inclusive and versatile workplace where people feel valued and can see how their work makes a real difference.
About The Role
Sharps is growing, and we need a Technology and Systems Officer to look after the systems our people rely on every day. You'll help deliver our technology roadmap, keep our systems secure and reliable, connect data across our business, finance and client systems, and find safe, practical ways to use automation and AI to take manual effort out of our work. This is a hands‑on role: much of your time will be spent supporting our systems and resolving issues, while also contributing to longer‑term improvements. You'll work closely with our external IT provider and other technology vendors, and with teams right across the business.
What You’ll Do
- Help maintain a prioritised technology roadmap tied to our operating needs, growth, risk and business value, reviewed quarterly
- Keep core systems available, supported and recoverable,
with clear incident response and business continuity plans that are regularly tested
- Make sure data flows reliably between our core business, finance and client systems, and resolve data quality issues at the source
- Identify opportunities for automation and AI, and put in place those that deliver safe, measurable gains, with the right controls and human review
- Maintain proportionate cybersecurity controls across identity, access, devices, vendors and data, including secure onboarding and offboarding, regular access reviews and staff security awareness
- Be the day‑to‑day contact for our external IT provider and technology vendors, tracking service levels, costs and licensing, and working to reduce recurring support issues
About You
- Practical and hands‑on. You enjoy solving problems yourself and can see how they fit into the bigger picture.
- Security‑minded. You understand sound security practice and can hold specialist providers to a high standard.
- Commercially aware. You weigh cost, risk and business value, and you recommend solutions that make sense for the business.
- Curious about automation and AI. You're keen to use new tools to make work simpler, and you apply them safely and measure the results.
- A clear communicator. You explain technical issues in plain language, keep people informed and escalat issues early.
- Organised and methodical. You keep systems,
processes and documentation tidy and easy to follow.
- Outcome‑focused. You take ownership of your work, move quickly and follow through on your commitments.
- Honest and reliable. You act with integrity, take compliance seriously and do the right thing with people's information.
What You’ll Need
- 3–5 years' experience in an IT, systems administration or systems support role, including some project or vendor work
- Experience supporting integrated business systems and the data that flows between them
- Sound working knowledge of cybersecurity controls across identity, access, devices and data
- Experience working with external IT providers and technology vendors, including tracking service levels and costs
- Exposure to automation or AI tools, and an understanding of the controls needed to use them safely
- Full working rights in Australia
- The ability to work on‑site in Geelong
Highly Regarded
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and SharePoint
- Knowledge of recognised security frameworks such as the ASD Essential Eight
- Experience supporting a mobile or field-based workforce across multiple locations
The Hours
This is a full-time role based on-site at our Geelong office, Monday to Friday, with occasional after-hours availability for incidents or planned system changes.
