Our client is a small statutory authority with a robust emphasis on regulation, located on Canberra’s northside. They operate within the portfolio of a highly regarded Federal Government department.

nThe Opportunity n
n

This role sits in a two-person financial systems team made up of an APS6 and an EL1.

n
n

As the APS6, you will be the day-to-day owner of the agency’s TechnologyOne finance system and the go-to person for the interfaces that connect it to the agency’s other operational systems.

n
n

The position is offered as a 12-month non-ongoing contract, with the possibility of extension or permanency.

- Real ownership of a TechnologyOne environment, working directly with the EL1 rather than through layers of management
n
n
- Variety across the full finance system: configuration, interfaces, reporting, helpdesk, enhancements and month-end processes
n
n
- A practical route into finance systems for accountants, with reconciliations and management reporting giving you familiar ground to build from
n
n
- The chance to design and deliver training for system users and shape the procedures that govern the finance system
n
n
- A contract with a clear possibility of extension or permanency

nThe Role n
n

You will keep the agency’s finance system running accurately and make it work better for the people who use it.

n
n

n
n
- Administer the agency’s TechnologyOne finance system, including system enhancements and fixes
n
n
- Manage the daily interfaces between the finance system and other business systems, resolving issues as they arise
n
n
- Generate general purpose and specific purpose financial reports from the system
n
n
- Provide a helpdesk service for finance system users across the agency
n
n
- Undertake month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations within the finance system to maintain data integrity
n
n
- Assist with administration of the Expense8 travel and credit card system,



and advise staff on domestic travel and credit card matters
n
n
- Develop and deliver training for finance system users
n
n
- Contribute to policy instructions and operational procedures for the finance system and its interfaces
n
n
- Assist with monthly management reporting, applying your accounting understanding of the information recorded in the system
n
n

nThe Ideal Person n
n

You understand both the accounting and the system: what a reconciliation needs to show, and how to work out why the system isn’t showing it.

n
n

Experienced finance system administrators will suit this role, and so will accountants with solid systems exposure who want to move into a dedicated systems role.

- Experience working in or with a financial management information system, with TechnologyOne administration experience highly regarded
n
n
- Strong analytical skills with financial information, including reconciliations and month-end and year-end processes
n
n
- The ability to produce and interpret financial reports, drawing on a sound understanding of accounting
n
n
- Clear communication and liaison skills, including explaining system issues to non-finance staff and delivering training
n
n
- Sound judgement and the confidence to work independently with limited instruction
n
n
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
n
n

- Experience with Expense8 or a similar travel and credit card system
n
n
- Experience developing system enhancements or managing interfaces between systems
n
n

nSalary n

- $100k – $110k + 15.4% Super
n
n
- 12-month non-ongoing contract, with the possibility of extension or permanency
n

- Based on Canberra’s northside, with hybrid working of 2 days a week from home
n
n
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance are required
n
n
