Production Design Engineer – CAD & Manufacturing

You'll be responsible for translating architectural designs and project requirements into practical, manufacturable lighting solutions. Working closely with our sales, design and manufacturing teams, you'll take ownership of assigned projects, prepare detailed engineering documentation and ensure designs are accurate, efficient and ready for production. We're looking for someone who can work independently, identify problems early and deliver practical solutions without constant supervision.

Key responsibilities

Interpret architectural drawings, specifications and project requirements to develop manufacturable lighting solutions.

Prepare accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.

Design and engineer custom components for project-specific applications.

Take ownership of assigned projects from initial design through to production release.

Identify design issues, manufacturing constraints and potential production problems before they reach the workshop.

Work directly with manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges and improve product designs.

Identify opportunities to simplify manufacturing, reduce costs, improve efficiency and minimise rework.

Collaborate with sales, design, purchasing and production teams to ensure technical, aesthetic and manufacturing requirements are achieved.

About you

Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing, fabrication, production engineering, product design or technical drafting.

Strong 2D CAD skills, preferably AutoCAD LT.

Experience with 3D CAD software,



ideally PTC Creo Parametric.

Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, component design, assembly methods and production constraints.

Ability to interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail, particularly in technical drawings, dimensions, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.

Ability to identify technical problems and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.

Solid communication skills and confidence working with office and workshop teams.

Competence with Microsoft Excel and technical documentation.
