Building Inspector – Melbourne Northern Suburbs n

Arki Building Surveyors Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Building Inspector to join our team in a full-time position based in the Melbourne Northern Suburbs. This role is fundamental to our business, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety across our inspection services. You will be responsible for conducting thorough building inspections, identifying defects, and providing detailed reports to clients and stakeholders. This position offers the chance to work across a diverse range of residential and commercial properties, contributing directly to the integrity of building projects throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

n

Conducting mandatory building inspections, including footing, slab, frame and final inspections

n

Inspecting residential, townhouse, multi-unit, commercial and industrial projects

n

Reviewing approved architectural and engineering documentation prior to and during inspections

n

Identifying non-compliant building work and construction defects

n

Preparing explicit and accurate inspection reports

n

Communicating inspection outcomes and required rectification works with builders and site supervisors

n

Working closely with Arki's Building Surveyors and administration team

n

Managing your inspection schedule efficiently across Melbourne's northern suburbs

n

Providing practical, professional and consistent advice while maintaining strong client relationships

n

What we're looking for

n

Is a registered Building Inspector in Victoria

n

Has experience carrying out building inspections within Victoria

n

Has a strong understanding of the NCC, Victorian building legislation, Australian Standards and approved building documentation

n





Has good knowledge of residential construction and common construction defects

n

Can confidently read architectural, structural and engineering drawings

n

Has strong written and verbal communication skills

n

Is comfortable dealing directly with builders, supervisors, trades and consultants

n

Can work independently while also being part of a wider building surveying team

n

Is organised, reliable and takes pride in producing thorough inspection reports

n

Holds a current Victorian driver's licence

n
