Sunnysights Independent Living – Gympie QLD

Sunnysights Independent Living is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Gympie, QLD. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. In this role, you will provide essential support services to individuals, helping them achieve greater independence and participate fully in their communities. You will be an integral part of our mission to empower people with disabilities to live fulfilling and autonomous lives.

What you'll be doing

- Providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming and meal preparation
- Supporting clients with mobility and transportation to appointments, social activities and community events
- Assisting with household tasks and maintaining a safe, clean living environment
- Encouraging and supporting clients to develop independence and life skills
- Building positive relationships with clients and their families, treating all individuals with dignity and respect
- Documenting support provided and communicating updates to supervisors and care coordinators
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to health and safety standards
- Responding with patience and empathy to the individual needs and preferences of clients
- Supporting clients' participation in social, recreational and community activities

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients and their families
- Physical capability to assist with personal care and mobility support safely and confidently




- Reliability, punctuality and a flexible approach to work scheduling as a casual team member
- A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid certification
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care or community services is advantageous
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Sound knowledge of disability support principles and best practices in person-centred care
