Retail Butcher Assistant/Cashier (Full time or Part time)

This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working with people and being part of a friendly team. The role involves providing excellent customer service, operating the point of sale/register and assisting with the preparation and production of fresh products within the butcher shop.

Key responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional customer service

Assist customers with enquiries, product selections and general assistance

Operate the point of sale/register and EFTPOS terminal, processing sales and payments accurately

Pack customer purchases and ensure orders are prepared correctly

Assist with the production and preparation of fresh products, including sausages, burgers, marinades and other value-added products

Assist with packaging, labelling and displaying fresh meat products

Maintain clean, tidy and hygienic work areas, including the shop floor, counters and production areas





Replenish displays and ensure products are presented attractively

Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures

Work collaboratively with butchers and other team members to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the shop

About you

Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with customers

Reliable, punctual and well presented

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Good attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions

Willingness to learn new skills and assist with hands-on production duties

Ability to work in a fast-paced retail setting

Previous retail food outlet experience is desirable

Availability to work weekends and adaptable shifts as required

Willingness to follow all food safety and hygiene requirements

A positive attitude and a strong work ethic
