Job Description
Why join SUBCO n
The internet's backbone isn't in the cloud. It's on the ocean floor, and we put it there.
n
When a video call connects Sydney to Singapore in under 100 milliseconds, or a cloud file reaches the other side of the world in the blink of an eye, that's undersea cable infrastructure at work. SUBCO designs, builds and operates high-capacity submarine cable systems linking Australia to Asia, the United States, and beyond.
n
In September 2026, we announced the APX programme; three hypercable systems spanning over 40,000 kilometres. The single largest subsea build ever undertaken by a carrier in the Indo-Pacific.
n
With $3 billion in infrastructure projects underway, SUBCO is not a startup finding its feet. We're not a slow-moving incumbent watching from the sidelines. We're an Australian, founder-led company scaling fast, doing work that shapes how entire regions connect to the global digital economy. And right now, we're building the team to make it happen!
The Opportunity n
We are on the search for a Finance Officer to provide transactional support and administer payroll compliance, serving as the financial backbone that keeps our operations running smoothly. Your work will support a finance team that is evolving into a world‑class function to enable the deployment of $3+ billion in infrastructure projects across the Indo-Pacific region.
What you'll do n
n
- Maintain financial records and documentation in compliance with statutory requirements
n
- Support the expense management system including user administration, corporate card coding, and reconciliation
n
- Administer payroll operations, including superannuation contributions and payroll tax filings (in coordination with external payroll provider)

- Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns on schedule
n
- Support with processing and reconciling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions
n
- Support the Finance Team with daily operations, regulatory lodgments, and ad‑hoc finance requests
n
About You nn
- Previous experience as a Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant, or similar role with knowledge of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
n
- Experience managing finance enquiries and serving as the Finance team's first point of contact across multiple channels (workflow systems, shared inboxes, phone)
n
- Understanding of payroll administration and compliance, including superannuation management, PAYG withholding, and payroll tax obligations
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Dynamics experience highly desirable
n
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle high transaction volumes
n
- Understanding of finance processes, reconciliations, and internal controls
n
- Excellent organisational and time management skills

Why you'll love working at SUBCO nn
- Work alongside industry thought leaders, and contribute to infrastructure projects critical to Australia's future
n
- Hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 from home)
n
- Birthday day off, need we say more?
n
- Flex Leave - 5 additional days for life admin, health check-ups, family events, volunteering, study and/or personal development
