Job Description

The Supervised Contact Worker position is responsible for providing high quality supervision for visits between children and/or young persons and their families. This position must ensure that the child’s best interests are protected during contact. The aim is to facilitate a secure and constructive contact visit comprising of positive interactions between the parent/participant and child/children in order to build and/or maintain their relationship. The Supervised Contact Worker will work with children in out of home care as well as children from separated families.

We are looking for individuals who fulfil the following criteria: n

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. social welfare, psychology, education, counselling, community services or related experience.
n
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people and people with a disability.
n
- The ability to work with clients who display challenging and difficult behaviours
n
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
n
- Excellent observational and report writing skills.
n




- Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
n
- Sound knowledge of child development.
n
- Ability to remain impartial, maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
n
- Ability to risk assess varying situations.
n
- Enjoys working autonomously, has the ability to think on their feet and make decisions in complex situations.
n

Current drivers licence, yourown comprehensively insured vehicle preferred and a phone will be provided.

n

The position can be tailored to suit your schedule - positions are available for both weekend workers and weekday workers, with weekend availability a requirement . Applicant’s who are able to take on shifts with short notice will be highly regarded. The position is a casual position, with no guarantee for hours, but very regular clients.

Positions are subject to a Working with Children/Vulnerable People clearance and satisfactory National Police Check, Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
