Sydney Harbour Kayaks – The Spit Bridge, Mosman

Forget fluorescent lights and sitting behind a desk all summer.

n

Sydney Harbour Kayaks is building our Summer 2026/27 team , and we’re looking for energetic, capable people who want to work outdoors, meet people from around the world and spend their summer around one of Sydney’s most spectacular waterways.

n

We’re especially keen to hear from experienced paddlers, qualified sea kayak guides and outdoor instructors — but we also have opportunities for enthusiastic people with robust customer service, tourism, hospitality or watersports experience.

WHO ARE WE? n

Sydney Harbour Kayaks has been part of Sydney’s paddling scene since 1991 and is proudly recognised in the NSW Tourism Hall of Fame .

Our home is right on the water at The Spit, Mosman , where we’ve created a workplace that is active, social, outdoors and genuinely fun to be part of.

n

This isn’t a job where you’ll spend your summer sitting behind a desk. You’ll be working beside the harbour, meeting people from around Australia and the world, staying active and being part of a team that loves what we do.

We take great customer experiences and on-water safety seriously — but we also believe a great workplace should be healthy, positive and enjoyable .

n

Summer at The Spit is busy, energetic, social and rarely the same two days in a row.

WHAT COULD YOU BE DOING? n

Depending on your experience and qualifications, your day could include:

n

n
- Setting customers up for a kayaking adventure
n
- Working with our premium kayak and surfski fleet
n
- Helping run kayak rentals, lessons and tours
n
- Guiding visitors through beautiful Middle Harbour
n
- Running Paddle Polo and group activities
n
- Working with schools and corporate groups
n
- Providing paddling and safety instruction
n




- Taking bookings and helping customers in our waterfront shop
n
- Preparing and maintaining equipment
n
- Helping create the kind of experience people remember long after their Sydney holiday is over
n

This is not purely an office job and it isn't purely a guiding job.

n

We want people who are happy talking to customers one minute, moving kayaks on the beach the next, and getting on the water when required.

PADDLERS – WE REALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. n

If you're already an experienced sea kayaker, kayak instructor or qualified guide, tell us about it.

n

We are particularly interested in applicants with:

n

n
- Sea kayak guiding or instructional qualifications
n
- Strong sea kayaking or paddlesports experience
n
- Outdoor Recreation / Outdoor Leadership qualifications
n
- First Aid
n
- NSW Boat Licence
n
- Working With Children Check
n
- Experience working with school or adventure groups
n

n

International qualifications and experience are also very welcome.

NOT A QUALIFIED GUIDE? n

Don't rule yourself out.

n

Some of our summer positions are shore-based and customer-focused, and the right attitude, work ethic and confidence around the water matter enormously.

n

If you have good paddling skills and the right aptitude, there may also be opportunities to develop your kayaking and guiding experience with us.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF n

These are casual summer positions , with roles commencing progressively through September and into the warmer months.

n

Our busiest period runs through spring and summer, with shifts generally available Wednesday to Sunday , including weekends, school holidays and peak tourism periods.

n

Applicants must be physically capable of working outdoors and handling kayaks and watersports equipment.

n

You will need appropriate Australian working rights and should clearly include your visa status and availability in your application if applicable.
