About the Opportunity
DDP Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Systems Analyst to support a significant application modernisation and cloud transformation program within a Federal Government department.
The program involves modernising a complex legacy application platform, transitioning existing applications, databases, integrations and reporting capabilities to a modern cloud-based architecture using Microsoft Azure.
Working alongside Solution Architects, Developers, Data Engineers and business stakeholders, you will analyse existing systems, data structures and business processes to support future-state solution design and delivery.
This prospect would suit a technically focused Systems Analyst with experience investigating complex legacy systems, understanding application and data dependencies, and translating findings into detailed technical specifications.
In order to apply, you must be an Australian Citizen and ideally have an Australian Government Baseline security clearance or above.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and reverse engineer legacy applications, databases, integrations and data flows to understand current-state functionality and dependencies.
- Examine SQL Server databases, stored procedures, data models, schemas and transformation logic.
- Analyse data warehousing and reporting solutions, including SSAS/OLAP cubes, dimensional models, measures and calculations.
- Review application code, including .NET, C++ and Python, to identify business rules, calculation logic and system behaviour.
- Trace data through applications, databases, integrations and reporting layers to document data lineage and dependencies.
- Develop detailed system requirements, technical specifications, data mappings, interface definitions and process flows.
- Investigate data quality, reconciliation issues and undocumented system behaviours.
- Support future-state solution design,
application modernisation and migration to Microsoft Azure.
- Work closely with architects, developers, data engineers and business stakeholders to clarify technical requirements.
- Support testing, validation and data migration activities to ensure existing functionality and business rules are maintained.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates with experience across the following areas:
- Technical systems analysis, particularly involving complex or bespoke legacy applications.
- SQL Server, including database analysis, stored procedures, queries and data structures.
- Data modelling, mapping, transformation, data lineage and reconciliation.
- Data warehousing, SSAS/OLAP, dimensional modelling and analytical reporting platforms.
- Ability to navigate and analyse application code written in .NET, C++, Python or similar technologies.
- Reverse engineering applications and identifying undocumented business rules, integrations and dependencies.
- Producing functional and technical specifications, system diagrams, data flows and acceptance criteria.
- Working with Solution Architects, Developers and Data Engineers on application and data modernisation initiatives.
- Communicating complex technical findings to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Application and data migration to cloud-based platforms.
- Python scripting, data analysis and automation.
- Scientific, environmental, geospatial or computational modelling applications.
- Previous experience working within Australian Government environments.
