Actually Partners
Sydney
We're a strategy and creative partner for ambitious brands. We're deliberately different from a traditional agency. Our team works closely with clients at a senior level, combining strategy, creative, communications and practical delivery to help clients navigate complex projects and bring ideas to life. In just two years, we've built a reputation for finding the truth others miss and turning it into work that drives real growth. Now we're expanding our offer, and we need someone who can stand beside clients through some of their most critical moments.
About the role
You'll be joining at a pivotal moment. The majority of this role (around 70%) will be dedicated to a single, landmark project with one of our biggest clients. It's the kind of engagement that doesn't come around often: complex, multi-stakeholder, and with the real potential to reshape a significant Sydney business. The remaining 30% will have you supporting a broader portfolio of Actually clients.
It's a properly varied job: part strategic communications, part client relationships, part project management and production. You'll spend around three days a week embedded in client teams, in their offices, in the room, in the detail. You'll be trusted to handle sensitive situations, manage competing voices, and bring clarity where there's noise.
You'll be supported by our senior team in Melbourne, who travel to Sydney regularly, so you won't be going it alone up there. You'll also be invited to Melbourne quarterly alongside the full team to connect, collaborate and calibrate.
Key responsibilities
- Own the client relationship day to day, building trust with senior stakeholders and keeping things moving
- Shape and deliver communications for a landmark project with city-shaping scale,
across audiences from government to community
- Manage projects from brief to delivery, keeping timelines, budgets, suppliers and people on track
- Produce and coordinate events and other moments that bring the work to life
- Write across a range of formats, from exec briefings and board papers to stakeholder updates and internal comms
- Turn client problems into sharp briefs for the Actually team, then make sure the work lands
- Work with the broader Actually team to connect comms with wider strategy and creative work
About you
Strong client instincts. You're comfortable in the room with executives, build trust quickly, read what's really going on, and can push back when the thinking isn't right.
A background in marketing, agency or communications, with experience working through complex, high-stakes, multi-stakeholder situations.
Robust project management and production skills. You can run complex projects and events across multiple stakeholders, keep timelines, budgets and people on track, and never let the detail slip.
Autonomy and judgement. You know how to prioritise, when to escal??
Clear writing. You know your audience and can take something complicated and make it simple.
Real curiosity. You're interested in the businesses and projects you work with, not just the brief.
The chance to work on one of Sydney's most significant projects, the kind of thing you'll still be talking about in ten years.
A real seat at the table, trusted with meaningful, complex work from day one.
The chance to help shape how Actually grows in Sydney.
A small, smart team that cares about doing things properly.
The flexibility of being Sydney-based, with real connection to the Melbourne team.
Work that spans industries, audiences and challenges. No two months will look the same.
