Blacktown
This role keeps the Blacktown fabrication floor safe by being on it every day. Expect to spend about 80% of your time on the floor and in the yard, and 20% on the paperwork that backs it up. The role is fully in office, with no work from home. You'll report to the General Manager and work daily with the Operations Manager and bay supervisors. Supervisors stay accountable for their crews' safety, and you coach them, check the standard and **escalate** when it slips.
Key responsibilities
- Daily walkarounds of the floor, yard, loading and storage areas
- Checking cranes, lifting gear, forklifts, the cage machine, hot work and PPE
- Correcting unsafe work on the spot and coaching the crew
- Supporting morning prestarts and delivering toolbox talks
- Leading incident and near-miss reporting and investigations
- Recording inspections and chasing actions to close-out in SafetyCulture
- Inducting new starters, contractors and visitors, and tracking licences
- Keeping risk assessments, SWMS and registers current
About you
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- 5+ years in a WHS role in fabrication, manufacturing or heavy industry
- Hands-on knowledge of cranes, forklifts, hot work, welding fume and manual handling
- Working knowledge of the NSW WHS Act and Regulation
- Confidence with SafetyCulture (or similar) and Microsoft 365
