New Graduate Occupational Therapist 2027 | Community | 4 Month Induction Program
New Graduate Occupational Therapist 2027
Support at Home and NDIS, adults. Adelaide based, full time or part time, multiple positions. $78,000 plus super, with a $4,800 travel allowance on top.
Kindly Healthcare is an allied health team working across Adelaide and surrounds. We’re OTs and physios doing in home and community work with adults.
You’ve probably been told not to start your career in the community. Too much time on your own, too much to know. It’s fair advice when the plan is a laptop, a caseload and good luck.
That isn’t the plan here. We’re looking for new grad OTs for 2027 who want to start in the community and be properly looked after while they do it.
Your first four months
Every current grad OT at Kindly starts with our 4 month induction program. We built it ourselves, ran it for the first time last year, and we’re running it again for 2027.
It moves gently through three stages. You start by watching, out on the road with our senior OTs. Then supported practice, with a few simpler clients of your own and a senior close by. Then a balanced caseload that widens as you’re ready for it.
Weekly supervision runs the whole way through. It finishes with a proper review and a plan for your next 6 to 12 months, written with you.
Your caseload only grows as your confidence does. Nobody expects you to know everything in week one. Or week ten.
We’ll walk you through the whole program when we chat.
Why you’ll like it here
Our work is built around three things.
- Community. Community OT can be solo work, so we put real effort into the team part. Team events, workshops, fundraisers, and PD every month at a minimum. You’ll be part of something bigger than your caseload.
- Support.
Your weekly supervision is locked in, not squeezed in when someone’s free. Your supervising OT knows your goals, not only your caseload. And when you’re sitting in your car outside a client’s house, not sure what comes next, there’s someone to ring.
- Growth. Complex equipment, home mods, FCAs, something else entirely. Once you’ve found your feet, where you take it is your call, and we’ll help you get there.
Once a quarter we ask the whole team, anonymously, whether they’d recommend Kindly as a place to work. In July, every single person who answered gave us a 9 or a 10 out of 10. We ask again in October, and you’re welcome to ask us how it went.
What’s in it for you
- $78,000 plus super. The actual number, written down.
- A travel allowance that is actually worth something. You’ll be out on the road, so we pay $4,800 a year on top of your salary. It’s paid flat, not a reimbursement you have to chase.
- Work life balance that actually works. Full time or part time. Your caseload is built for normal weeks, the kind where things go sideways now and then. We’d rather you had time to write a proper report, ring a family back, and get to your next client without rushing.
- Monthly PD, at a minimum. The team keeps asking for more of it, so there usually is.
- Tech and tools. Laptop, streamlined systems for notes and scheduling, and the equipment you need to do the job properly.
- Free Pilates and other health benefits.
You’ll spend your days on other people’s wellbeing. This bit is for yours.
- Kindly swag. A few uniform options and enough of it to save you that mid week wash.
The bit about targets
Most allied health jobs have billable targets and most ads don’t mention them. We’d rather say it up front.
You won’t have one during the program. After that we work one out with you. It’s set individually, around your salary and your caseload, not a blanket number handed to everyone.
What you’ll be doing
Not all at once. This is where your first year heads.
Working with adults and older adults across Support at Home and NDIS, in their homes and in the community. No paediatrics, so if paeds is where your heart is, we’re not your place.
Home safety assessments and falls prevention.
Assistive technology assessment and prescription, starting with everyday equipment.
Home modifications, starting with rails and ramps.
Ongoing therapy and capacity building, where you get to see progress over time rather than handing over after one visit.
Functional Capacity Assessments, shared at first, with the team and the templates behind you.
Working alongside our physios and the rest of the team.
What we’re looking for
You’re finishing your OT degree this year, or you’ve recently graduated.
You’ll be AHPRA registered by your start date. Start dates are in 2027 and we’ll lock yours in around your registration.
A good communicator who likes people. Walking into a stranger’s home and getting them talking sounds like a valuable day to you.
Someone who asks questions early and would rather check than guess.
A current driver licence and a reliable car. We’re mobile and out on the road.
