People & Payroll Coordinator – Townsville – Accounting & Financial Services Firm

Our client is a long-established and highly regarded integrated accounting and financial services firm with over 70 years of history and a solid presence across Queensland. With 75+ staff across multiple locations, the firm delivers accounting, tax, financial planning, SMSF, audit and business advisory services to a diverse client base. Their Townsville office is continuing to grow and is now seeking a People & Payroll Coordinator to join the team.

The Role:

- End-to-end payroll processing across the business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Maintain and update employee records within HRIS and payroll systems, including Xero Payroll
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, awards, and HR requirements
- Support broader HR and People & Culture functions including onboarding, reporting, and administration




- Assist with process improvements and system efficiencies across payroll and HR
- Act as a key point of contact for payroll and HR queries across the business
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail

About You:

- 3–5 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Experience using HRIS systems and Xero Payroll
- Certificate or Diploma in Payroll, HR, or Business Administration
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and HR processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with strong time management skills
- Analytical and solutions-focused with a continuous improvement mindset
- Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented
