A hands-on role to make your own, in a business where people know your name
Angels in Aprons is an award-winning, family-owned aged care business, and we are looking for a practical, approachable HR Generalist to take the lead in helping our team feel supported, do their best work and deliver great care to older Australians.
You will be our go-to person for day-to-day HR support, from recruitment and onboarding to answering team questions, keeping our people processes in good order and supporting management with staff matters. You'll also provide day-to-day direction on HR tasks to a team member who supports reception, including interview coordination and recruitment administration.
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and steady, with warmth, good judgement and a natural ability to connect with people. Someone who listens well, gives clear advice, is comfortable having the harder conversations and knows when to seek further guidance.
You will work closely with our CEO, Business Operations Manager and team members, with plenty to get your hands into, opportunities to bring forward ideas and room to shape how we do things as we grow. We value someone who takes initiative, enjoys being part of a team and can bring a little humour to the day.
It's a full time office-based role, and we are ready for someone to get started soon!
What you’ll do
- Support recruitment, onboarding, employment changes and departures.
- Respond to everyday HR questions from team members and managers.
- Help managers work through performance, attendance and other staff matters.
- Keep employment records, policies and HR processes accurate and up to date.
- Help coordinate training, staff engagement activities and team events.
- Support a safe, respectful workplace and help us meet our employment obligations.
What you’ll bring
- Hands-on experience in a generalist HR role.
- Clear communication and a friendly, practical way of working with people.
- Good organisation, discretion and sound judgement.
- Confidence supporting managers while knowing when to seek guidance on a complex issue.
- A relevant HR qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in aged care, health or community services would be useful, but it’s not essential.
A few things about working here
We are a friendly team. We work hard, help each other out and enjoy a laugh along the way. Our office has a coffee machine, a terrace overlooking the Brisbane river, a massage chair and a great café and restaurant precinct nearby. We are close to all transport options including ferry, bus and train, however if you prefer to drive, there is opportunity for a reserved carpark to be included for you! Most of all, the work you do will support the people who care for older Australians every day.
