General Accountant – Full Time Neighbourhood Trades | Airport West VIC 3042 n

Neighbourhood Trades is seeking an experienced and qualified General Accountant to join our growing team in a full-time, permanent position.

We are looking for a reliable, highly organised professional seeking stable, long-term employment with a growing company.

n

Working closely with our Director, CFO and Business Manager, you will manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records and efficient day-to-day operations.

n

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent computer skills and the confidence to work independently across multiple financial systems.

Position Details n

- Employment: Full-Time, Permanent (38 hours per week)

- Location: Airport West VIC 3042
n
- Working Days: Monday to Friday
n

Key responsibilities Payroll & Employee Entitlements nn
- Managing end-to-end weekly payroll, including timesheets, overtime, allowances, commissions and deductions.
n
- Maintaining employee payroll records, leave balances and entitlements.
n
- Processing superannuation, PAYG withholding and STP reporting.
n
- Managing applicable CoINVEST and WorkCover obligations.
n
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Modern Awards and employment legislation.
n
- Processing new employees, terminations and payroll adjustments.
n

Accounts Payable & Receivable nn
- Processing supplier invoices, payments, credits and account reconciliations.
n
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice discrepancies.
n
- Managing payment schedules and supplier accounts.
n
- Managing customer invoicing, payment allocations and outstanding accounts.
n
- Monitoring overdue payments and assisting with debt collection.
n




- Processing refunds, credit notes and customer account adjustments.
n

Customer Finance & Internal Support nn
- Assisting customers and employees with HomePro Finance applications, documentation and enquiries.
n
- Liaising with finance providers regarding applications, approvals and settlements.
n
- Supporting internal teams with finance-related enquiries and processes.
n
- Maintaining accurate customer finance records.
n

General Accounting & Financial Reporting nn
- Completing bank reconciliations, journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
n
- Preparing financial reports and assisting with month-end and year-end processes.
n
- Supporting BAS, GST and other statutory reporting requirements.
n
- Reconciling financial transactions across Xero, ServiceTitan and associated systems.
n
- Maintaining accurate financial records and expense allocations.
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
n

What we're looking for nn
- Recognised qualification in Accounting or Commerce, with CPA or CA qualifications highly regarded.
n
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a General Accountant or similar position.
n
- Proven experience in payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
n
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting practices, GST, payroll and employee entitlements.
n
- Excellent computer literacy, including proficiency in Xero,



Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
n
- Ability to confidently navigate multiple software platforms and quickly learn new systems.
n
- Experience with ServiceTitan, HomePro Finance or similar platforms is advantageous.
n
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
n
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to assist customers, employees and suppliers.
n
- Reliable, professional and capable of working independently.
n
- Experience in trades, construction or service-based industries is highly regarded.
n

Essential requirements nn
- Recognised Accounting or Commerce qualification.
n
- Minimum 3 years' relevant accounting experience.
n
- Full Australian working rights.
n
- Three professional references.
n
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
