Mahal Green Olive Indian Restaurant is an established Indian restaurant located in Shepparton, Victoria. We specialize in authentic Indian cuisine and are seeking an experienced Full-time Cook with demonstrated skills in Indian Curry and Tandoor cooking.

About the Position

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of North Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori dishes, breads and other menu items, while maintaining consistent food quality, presentation and hygiene standards.

- Prepare, season and cook Indian dishes according to established recipes and menu requirements.
- Prepare and cook a range of Indian curries and tandoori dishes .
- Operate and monitor tandoor and other commercial cooking equipment.
- Prepare ingredients including meats, vegetables, sauces, marinades and spices.
- Cook food to the required quality, portion and presentation standards.
- Monitor cooking processes and adjust temperatures and cooking times as required.
- Prepare food during busy service periods while maintaining consistent quality.




- Assist with preparation of daily kitchen requirements and menu items.
- Ensure food is stored, handled and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organised cooking area and kitchen equipment.
- Monitor food supplies and assist with stock rotation and preparation requirements.
- Work effectively as part of a kitchen team and communicate with other kitchen staff during service.
- Assist with maintaining consistent recipes, portion sizes and food quality.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience working as a Cook in an Indian restaurant
- Demonstrated experience preparing North Indian cuisine .
- Practical experience in Indian Curry and Tandoor cooking .
- Ability to prepare a range of curries, tandoori dishes and other North Indian menu items.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen food preparation, cooking and hygiene practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion requirements and food quality standards.

Qualifications Trade or Diploma-level qualification in Cookery is required.

Salary and Employment Conditions The position is full time , with a salary of $79,500 per annum plus superannuation.
