Unity Hall Hotel is a historic neighbourhood pub on Darling Street in the heart of Balmain. Established in 1875, the venue brings together pub dining, live music and a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Cook to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will have a passion for quality food, strong organisational skills and the ability to deliver consistent dishes during busy service periods.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with menus, recipes and quality standards.
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal specials and recipe development.
- Estimate ingredient requirements and assist with food costing and ordering.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure correct storage and stock rotation.
- Monitor portion sizes, minimise food waste and maintain consistent presentation.
- Coordinate preparation and service within your allocated kitchen section.




- Discuss food preparation and service requirements with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards.
- Assist with training and guiding junior kitchen staff.

Skills and experience

- Relevant commercial cookery qualifications.
- Previous experience as a Chef in a busy pub, restaurant or similar venue.
- Sound knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety and kitchen operations.
- Strong communication, teamwork and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to consistent food quality.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Salary: $75K - $80K plus super
