About the role

We are looking for an experienced Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our installation and service team on a full-time, permanent basis, installing, servicing and maintaining residential and commercial air conditioning systems to a high standard with minimal downtime for our customers.

Your duties

- Install, commission, service and maintain residential and commercial air conditioning systems, including split systems, ducted systems, evaporative coolers, ventilation equipment and associated mechanical services.
- Read drawings and specifications, lay out installation points and plan the work sequence for each job.
- Install ductwork, grilles, diffusers, condensers, indoor units, pipework, drains and controls in line with manufacturer specifications and Australian Standards.
- Drill holes, fit mounting brackets, and cut, bend and thread pipe as required.
- Connect refrigerant lines and electrical interconnections (where licensed).
- Pressure-test and leak-test systems, evacuate them with a vacuum pump and charge them with refrigerant.
- Commission systems and complete operational testing before handover; identify and rectify defects before leaving site.
- Diagnose faults in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches and gauges.
- Overhaul,



adjust and reassemble systems and controls; record the cause of any malfunction and the action taken.
- Complete installation and service checklists and quality assurance documentation, delivering neat, skilled, high-quality workmanship on every job.
- Decommission and safely remove existing systems.
- Work with and guide apprentices on site.
- Follow all WHS policies and procedures, including Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments; wear appropriate PPE; keep the work area clean and safe; report hazards, incidents and near misses immediately.
- Plan work efficiently, complete installations within allocated labour budgets, use materials efficiently and care for company tools, vehicles and equipment.

Skills and experience required

- Completion of a four-year apprenticeship, or a Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year experience as an airconditioning and refrigeration mechanic or installer
- Current ARCtick licence.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test.
- Strong work ethic, high ethical standards and a willingness to learn.
