About the Opportunity/n
/n A leading global technology consultancy is seeking an experienced API Engineer to support a major Australian organisation operating in the banking and financial services sector./n
/n This hands-on role will contribute to the end-to-end delivery of an API-focused program. You will work with business stakeholders, technical specialists, developers, and delivery teams to define requirements, document API solutions, and build robust, scalable integrations./n
Key Responsibilities/n
/n /n
- Contribute to the end-to-end delivery of the API program.
/n
- Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders.
/n
- Help finalise functional specifications and interface documentation.
/n
- Work with business teams to define functional requirements for new services.
/n
- Collaborate with technical leads and business stakeholders during reviews and sign-offs.
/n
- Document and communicate changes within an Agile delivery environment.
/n
- Produce API requirements, designs, and functional specifications.
/n
- Apply microservices design principles to API and integration solutions.
/n
- Design and develop robust interfaces that integrate different systems and technologies.
/n
- Collaborate with development teams on technical ideas and applications.
/n
- Support internal and external consultants across workshops and delivery engagements.
/n
- Assist with the mentoring of junior consultants.
/n
- Help remediate software issues relating to code quality, security, frameworks, and design patterns. ,
/n Required Skills and Experience/n
/n /n
- Previous experience delivering API frameworks and integration solutions.
/n
- Robust understanding of microservices design principles.
/n
- Commercial development experience with:/n /n - Java 8 or later
/n - Spring Framework 5.x
/n - Spring Boot 2.x
/n - JUnit 5
/n - Mockito
/n - Java-based logging frameworks
/n - Postman
/n - Modern integrated development environments
/n /n
- Experience with infrastructure or DevOps design.
/n
- Strong API requirements, design, and functional-specification documentation skills.
/n
- Previous experience delivering technology projects within banking.
/n
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
/n
- Ability to produce clean, efficient code using test-driven development.
/n
- Experience addressing code-quality and application-security issues. ,
