Randstad is excited to be recruiting for an experienced Cost Controller and Assurance Specialist .

This role offers a key strategic chance to provide independent cost analysis, robust assurance, and high-level financial intelligence across a high-profile portfolio .

Location: Brisbane, QLD

Work Type: Contract, 12 months

Key Responsibilities In this role, you will complement project-level teams by independently challenging, analysing, and synthesising cost data across major infrastructure investments :

Conduct independent portfolio-level reviews of monthly cost reports.

Evaluate the accuracy and consistency of cost forecasts, trend movements, and cost-to-complete assumptions .

Analyse Earned Value Management (EVM) data (including CPI, SPI, and progress tracking) to ensure alignment between physical schedule progress and expenditure .

Perform targeted deep-dive reviews and cost assurance audits on high-risk projects, payment claims, open-book costs, and labour rates .

Develop executive ready reporting, including monthly portfolio assurance reports, cost performance dashboards, and contingency registers .

Escalate material cost exposures, reporting gaps,



and data quality concerns constructively to senior leadership .

About You

Proven expertise in cost control, forecasting, and financial assurance within large, complex infrastructure programs .

Strong experience working with open-book and cost-reimbursable contract delivery models.

Advanced capabilities in Earned Value Analysis, contingency tracking, and integrating cost, schedule, and risk data .

Practical experience auditing and assuring project cost reports, variations, claims, and financial controls .

High proficiency with analytical software, Power BI, Excel, and enterprise financial/controls systems .

Exceptional written communication skills and stakeholder engagement, with the confidence to provide constructive, independent advice to executive committees .
