This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of the department's strategic policy agenda. The Strategy and Delivery Branch works in partnership with policy teams across DSS and across the APS on high-impact policy projects that progress the outcomes outlined in the DSS Impact Strategy.

We also lead efforts to strengthen the department’s strategic policy capability to implement the Capability Action Plan.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Branch’s two key functions:

- leading strategic policy projects that address complex social policy challenges
- designing and delivering high-quality policy training initiatives across the department.

The branch has a solid focus on evidence-informed policymaking, capability uplift and driving practical policy outcomes.

The key duties of the position include:

- lead components of strategic policy projects
- identify and apply evidence, research and data to support policy development and decision-making
- prepares high-quality and influential written advice, presentations,



and new policy proposals
- contribute to the design and delivery of policy capability and training programs across DSS
- work collaboratively with policy, delivery, data and corporate teams across the department and represents our team at meetings
- build relationships with stakeholders across government and the APS
- supervise and coach APS staff.
