Reliable Hire is a Queensland-owned equipment hire business supplying civil and construction plant across regional Queensland. We’re growing in Bundaberg and want a sharp, sales-minded Branch Assistant who wants a career in hire, not just a job.

Why this role is different

Every customer who walks through our gate is an opportunity. In this role you’ll be the face of our Bundaberg branch for contractors, and picking up and returning gear. You’ll learn the fleet inside out, so you can recommend the right machine and attachments for the job and turn one-off hires into repeat customers.

For the right person, this role is a stepping stone into sales and branch leadership. We’d rather promote from within, and we’ll back people who show initiative.

What you’ll be doing

- Looking after customers at pick-up and drop-off, and building rapport with regulars
- Recommending the right equipment and attachments, and spotting opportunities for extra or longer hires




- Passing on leads and customer feedback to the branch manager
- Making sure every machine goes out looking sharp, because presentation sells
- Pre-hire and return inspections: checking oils, coolant, filters, tyres/tracks, fuel and hours, and recording damage or faults
- Keeping the yard clean, secure and organised
- Helping our workshop mechanic with servicing and repairs, so you learn the gear you’re selling

About you

- Natural people person who enjoys a chat and building relationships
- Competitive, motivated and keen to grow into a sales role
- Confident communicator, in person and on the phone
- Some mechanical aptitude, or a willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety
- Reliable, punctual and fit for outdoor work
- Background in trade sales, retail, hospitality, farming or machinery is a plus. Hire experience isn’t essential.
