ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Tin Alley Ventures currently has open Chief of Staff opportunities at three of our most exciting portfolio companies. These are exceptional platforms for high-calibre people to work closely with ambitious founders, take ownership of important business priorities, and help build companies at the cutting edge of science and technology.

The Chief of Staff role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations and execution. Depending on the company, you could be helping translate strategy into action, driving critical projects, solving complex problems or building the systems and processes needed to scale.

ABOUT TIN ALLEY VENTURES

Tin Alley Ventures is a Melbourne-based deep-tech venture fund with strong ties to the University of Melbourne ecosystem. Founded as a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and Tanarra Capital, Tin Alley backs globally ambitious companies from seed to pre-IPO, with particular strength in life sciences, physical sciences and other high-impact frontier technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will vary by company but may include:

- Strategy & execution: Work closely with the CEO to translate company priorities into actionable plans and drive key initiatives forward.
- Business operations: Build processes, systems and operating rhythms that help the business run effectively and scale.
- Strategic projects: Take ownership of high-priority projects spanning commercial strategy, growth, fundraising or business development.
- Problem-solving & analysis:



Bring structure to ambiguous problems, analyse opportunities and support high-quality decision-making.
- Cross-functional coordination: Align teams, manage competing priorities and ensure key initiatives maintain momentum.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Demonstrated excellence in academic or professional pursuits, with a track record of achievement and a solid appetite to learn.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement and strong written and verbal communication.
- A bias towards action, with the ability to take ownership and turn ideas into outcomes.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and working closely with founders and senior stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity and the ability to build relationships across teams.
- A genuine interest in company-building, science, technology or entrepreneurship.

We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds, including management consulting (particularly MBB), startups, technology, science, investing and other high-performance environments. Previous Chief of Staff experience is not essential; we care about capability, judgement and potential.
