With more than 40 years lived experience in the early childhood sector, Approved Provider, Pam Maclean, heads a team of amazing, dedicated educators, teachers and chefs across three family owned Out & About Care & Education centres in surf side Maroochydore and in beautiful Mooloolah Valley.

Pam is one of three Directors of Marmac Childcare Pty Ltd along with two others, Jim MacDonnell and Mark Holmes. The company was established when the three centres were being planned and developed to ensure the centres had a solid foundation with strong long-term sector lived experience at the helm, combined with experience and sound business acumen.

As operator and Approved Provider, Pam holds teaching qualifications and a master’s degree in education. She takes a values-based approach to her work - people come first. She values family and community and it underpins decisions made in the three centres each day.

Our AP is an active member on the state board of Australian Childcare Alliance Queensland (ACAQ), advocating for children, families and communities at state and federal government levels. As an employer of more than 110 educators, teachers and chefs, Pam is well connected to everyday reality and understands the challenges of balancing the needs and costs of a small business.

Out & About cares for all ages from babies through to our approved Kindergarten Program. Parents know that their child will gently grow and learn with familiar educators and teachers throughout their time with us until they head off to Prep year.

About the role





This position is for a Diploma qualified educator and requires a 5-day week commitment to fill the role. Sector wide educator shortages have ensured that centres seek employees from far afield, and aim for those who can guarantee dedication and consistency of attendance to the workplace.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate you meet the following criteria amongst others:

● The ability to lead or share lead a team of education colleagues in a room for 3 – 4-year-old children in the Pre-Kindergarten year.

● The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently, at a calm and unhurried pace.

● Educators will need to develop trusting relationships with children and show appropriate interactions with them at all times.

● Be able to complete written programs, observations of children and plan suitable and age-appropriate experiences each day.

● Ensure they meet the safety, well-being and hygiene requirements of working with young children.

● Manage documentation of each day ensuring that all written elements of work are completed in time, correctly and with the frequency required for compliance requirements.

● Manage a range of shift times each week to ensure our team shares early mid and late shifts equitably.

Skills Required include the following attributes:

● At least 1 year of full-time experience in relevant positions

● Patience in abundance

● Written ability to document each day

● Knowledge of The National Regulations, The National Standard and The National Quality Framework

● Knowledge of child safety requirements

● Positive team work with colleagues

● The ability to communicate clearly and calmly with others (families, children and colleagues)

Pay: $41.62 – $43.75 per hour
