Horizon Surgical Eye Centre is seeking an experienced and clinically focused Optometrist to join our specialist ophthalmology practice on a part-time or casual basis, working alongside Dr Kearney and our established clinical team.

Located within John Flynn Private Hospital in Tugun, Horizon Surgical Eye Centre provides comprehensive specialist ophthalmic care, diagnostic testing and treatment in a modern, well-equipped clinical environment.

We are looking for an optometrist with strong clinical knowledge, excellent diagnostic skills and a genuine interest in ophthalmology, who can make a valuable contribution to our clinical team and the care we provide to our patients.

This position is available on a part-time or casual basis, with working days aligned to Dr Kearney's scheduled consulting days.

About the Role

Working directly alongside Dr Kearney, you will play an integral role in the clinical assessment, investigation and ongoing management of patients attending our specialist ophthalmology practice. This is an opportunity for an optometrist who enjoys the clinical aspects of their profession and is looking to further develop their expertise within a specialist ophthalmology setting.

Your responsibilities will include

- Undertaking comprehensive ophthalmic assessments and preliminary patient work-ups.
- Performing and interpreting diagnostic testing, including OCT, visual fields, intraocular pressure measurements and other ophthalmic investigations.
- Assessing patients with a range of ocular conditions and identifying relevant clinical findings.
- Supporting Dr Kearney in the assessment,



diagnosis and ongoing management of ophthalmic patients.
- Assisting with pre-operative assessments and post-operative patient care.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and communicating relevant findings to the ophthalmologist.
- Working collaboratively with our clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow and a high standard of care.
- Contributing your clinical knowledge and expertise to support the continued development of the practice.

About You

We are seeking a confident and knowledgeable optometrist who is passionate about clinical eye care and enjoys working collaboratively in a specialist environment. Strong clinical knowledge and diagnostic capability are essential for this position.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- A recognised optometry qualification and current AHPRA registration.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and a sound understanding of ocular pathology.
- Experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular conditions.
- Confidence in interpreting OCT, visual fields and other ophthalmic diagnostic investigations.
- Excellent clinical judgement, attention to detail and communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work closely with an ophthalmologist and broader clinical team.




- A genuine interest in specialist ophthalmology

Previous experience working within an ophthalmology practice would be highly regarded, although we also welcome applications from clinically experienced optometrists looking to transition into a specialist environment.
