One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Cloud Solutions Architect (Azure) - EL1

1. Contract Duration: 02 Years (12 Months initially + 12 Months extension)
2. Work Location: Canberra (Hybrid available)
3. Work Arrangement: Min 03 Days a week require to work from Canberra office
4. Eligibility: You must need to have NV1 Security Clearance or above.
5. Tentative Start Date: 10th Dec 2026
6. Working Hours: 8 hours a day/ 40 hours a week

Key duties and responsibilities:

Department is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to join its Enterprise Architecture team. The role will provide senior cloud architecture expertise across a portfolio of technology initiatives and support the continued modernisation of department's Microsoft Azure environment. The successful candidate will have substantial experience delivering cloud solutions in complex enterprise environments and a practical understanding of Commonwealth governance, security and assurance requirements.

They will provide clear technical direction and work across business, architecture and delivery teams to develop solutions that can be implemented and supported effectively.

The Cloud Solutions Architect will:

- Lead the development of cloud solution architectures from requirements through to implementation.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, constraints and expected outcomes.
- Assess solution options and produce architecture artefacts, including solution designs, patterns, standards and implementation guidance.
- Design secure, resilient, scalable and supportable solutions using approved cloud services and platforms.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, data, integration and operational requirements.
- Present solution proposals through architecture and technology governance processes and address issues raised during review.




- Provide architecture oversight and technical guidance to delivery teams during implementation.
- Identify architecture risks, dependencies and technical debt, and recommend practical treatments.
- Contribute to the development of cloud architecture standards, patterns and roadmaps.
- Work independently, manage competing priorities and provide transparent advice to stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience an architect for the design and delivery of a significant cloud or digital transformation initiative, with responsibility for key architecture decisions and delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working with business stakeholders to define and validate requirements, translate them into practical solution designs, and secure executive support and endorsement through formal architecture and technology governance processes.
- Demonstrated experience leading the implementation of complex technology solutions, with accountability for delivery outcomes and the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and resolve issues without close supervision.
- Demonstrated experience delivering architecture outcomes within an Australian Government department or Commonwealth entity, with a sound understanding of Commonwealth governance, security, assurance and procurement requirements.

Desirable Criteria:

- Recent experience as the lead architect or technical lead for a significant cloud or digital transformation project, with direct responsibility for architecture decisions and delivery outcomes.
- Experience designing cloud platforms that support enterprise data, integration, analytics, artificial intelligence or machine learning capabilities in Microsoft Azure.
