Development Manager, Design

6 Month Contract with Potential to Extend

Capstone has been engaged by a leading land and property developer to appoint a Development Manager, Design on an initial six month contract, with robust potential to extend.

The opportunity

This role makes sure design quality and compliance are built into the delivery of low-scale residential communities. Reporting to the Director, Design and Place, you will manage house design approvals, Design Guidelines and housing and sustainability rebates. You will also work with development teams, builders and purchasers so that new homes meet design, sustainability and sales objectives.

Key responsibilities

- Manage architectural design, construction and sales and marketing aspects of low-scale housing delivery across designated projects
- Advise on the preparation and drafting of project Design Guidelines
- Assess design submissions from owners, builders, architects and designers for compliance, and communicate outcomes
- Assess design and sustainability rebate applications and recommend payment
- Prepare briefs, review tenders,



and appoint and manage consultants and contractors
- Conduct site visits during development and post-construction phases to inform design assessments

About you

- Tertiary qualification in architecture or architectural design
- Strong experience in residential land and property development, particularly the design of low-scale detached housing
- Sound knowledge of NSW planning processes, legislation and the local council approvals environment
- Proven experience managing consultants, contractors and contracts to deliver quality outcomes on time and on budget
- Commercial acumen, including feasibility, budget and risk management
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to resolve competing stakeholder expectations
