Experience Level: Experienced Support Workers / Enrolled Nurses / Registered Nurses

About the Role

CarePro is seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide high-intensity personal care and daily living support to a couple living with physical disabilities. Both participants use wheelchairs and require assistance with personal care, transfers and household tasks.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a nursing background, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Enrolled Nurses (ENs), or experienced disability support workers with relevant high-intensity support experience.

Shifts will initially be short evening shifts, generally from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm, with support required on most evenings, including weekends. There is potential for significantly more hours and longer shifts for the right candidate as additional support needs are established.

Key Responsibilities The role involves providing safe, respectful and person-centred support, including:

- Catheterisation support: Assisting with catheter-related care in accordance with the participants' care plans, individual training and required clinical competencies.
- Personal care and toileting: Assisting participants with toileting, hygiene and evening personal care routines.
- Hoist transfers: Safely assisting with transfers using hoists and other prescribed mobility equipment.
- Physical disability support: Supporting two wheelchair users while promoting their comfort, dignity, independence and safety.

- Household assistance: Washing dishes, putting dishes away, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and completing general household tasks.
- Evening routines: Helping participants prepare for bed and ensuring their immediate environment is safe, clean and comfortable.
- Documentation and communication: Following individual support plans, documenting care provided and reporting concerns appropriately.

Essential Requirements The successful candidate must have:
- Experience supporting people with physical disabilities and high-intensity care needs.
- Practical experience with personal care, toileting and hoist transfers.
- Relevant catheterisation experience and the ability to demonstrate appropriate competency for the tasks required.
- A strong understanding of safe manual handling and infection prevention.
- A compassionate, reliable and professional approach.
- The ability to work independently while following care plans and clinical instructions.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and other applicable employment checks.
- Relevant qualifications and training for the duties performed.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

- Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) qualifications.

- A nursing or other relevant clinical background.
- Experience providing complex personal care in disability, community nursing, aged care or similar settings.
- Experience with catheter care, hoist transfers and supporting people with significant physical disabilities.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Candidates without nursing qualifications may still be considered if they have substantial, directly relevant experience and the required competencies.

Shifts and Availability

- Initial shifts: Generally 9:30 pm – 11:30 pm.
- Days: Most evenings, including weekends.
- Location: Parkville, Melbourne.
- Future opportunities: Additional shifts and longer hours may be available for the right candidate.

Applicants should be available for regular evening work and, ideally, have flexibility to take on additional shifts.

This opportunity is suited to someone who takes pride in their clinical skills, values building trusted relationships with participants and wants the potential for ongoing work.
